Field Trip FAQ's
Q: How many students can the DNA Learning Center accommodate?
A: The lab can accommodate 32 students at one time. If your group has more than 32 young scientists, please contact us to discuss various options. We have welcomed groups up to 150 young scientists on one day, but that type of visit is the exception not the norm. We regularly welcome groups in the 50-60 young scientist range.
Q: Is there a minimum of how many people we need to have?
A: No! We have had some smaller classes (~10 students) as well as Scout troops and homeschool group visit us. Please reach out to learn more.
Q: What is the age range?
A: We regularly welcome grade 5 and up through adults. Due to lab safety concerns, we do not have events in the lab for those in grades 3 and below.
Q: Can the DNALC travel to my school?
A: Contact us and let's discuss! We have visited schools both locally and across the midwest, but there are alot of variables including distance and timing. It IS a possibility though so reach out to discuss.
Q: Do we need to bring our own lunch?
A: It's up to you! You can bring sack lunches for your group, or we can provide lunch for your group for an additional cost. You are also welcome to eat somewhere else on campus.
Q: What is the cost?
A: The costs for activities varies. We will work with you to get a cost that works with your group's budget. We have different pricing models (per person and per group) and do not want to turn anyone away due to cost.
Q: Do I need to know what activity I want when I contact you?
A: No! If you let us know your age range, goals, and time limitations, we can work with you to suggest the most appropriate activities.
